9 open hours on Friday alone!

“The question which we must pose to ourselves is what are we to do when philosophical madness is part of the supreme law of the land and when that madness facilitates the destruction of 1.66 million “unwanted” human lives a year. In deciding on our response, we should first remember the fundamental attitude which produced the proliferation of abortion. This fundamental attitude is held by the “consuming soul” which attempts to achieve mastery over reality by reducing everything to something which can potentially satisfy it. Rather than being people driven by our “needs,” and ultimately consumed by our “needs,” those who would defend life must pledge themselves to a life of sacrifice. Since unborn human beings are of such great worth and dignity, they are suitable beneficiaries of a life of sacrifice. By sacrificing something of what is “mine” in order to try to safeguard the life of another, I explicitly acknowledge and affirm the objective dignity and worth of that other human being. In an act of sacrifice, I give something of what belongs to me for the sake of another. By these acts I acknowledge that other persons are not there merely to satisfy my desires. The objective reality of their being demands from me a response of reverence. By sacrificing my time, my money, my career, my social acceptability, and, perhaps, even my freedom for the sake of the unborn I can offer to God’s most perfect earthly creatures, human persons, the reverence which is their due.”

On Saturday, September 10, 2016, Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, Priests for Life and the Pro-Life Action League will co-sponsor the fourth annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children, calling on pro-life Americans to honor the gravesites of our aborted brothers and sisters.

Solemn prayer vigils will be conducted at these gravesites, of which there are 50 across the United States, as well as at dozens of other sites dedicated in memory of aborted children.

By participating in the National Day of Remembrance, visiting these solemn memorial places at other times of the year, and spreading the word about this prayer campaign, you are helping to humanize our aborted brothers and sisters and deepening your own commitment to ending the injustice of abortion.

Vigil for Life will host one of these memorial services at St. Michael’s Church in Dane, WI. The address is: 109 S. Military Rd., Dane, WI 53529 The service will begin at 10 a.m.

40 Days for Life – Madison starts Wednesday, Sept. 28 and ends on Sunday, Nov. 6th. We are in need of the following to keep our campaign alive!

Vigil Captains – Ideally, we need 14 so each Vigil Captain will only need to fill 12 hours every week.

Job Description: Watch the vigil calendar throughout the week leading up to your chosen one day of the week to ensure that each hour is covered. By the night before the start of your day, the hours must be filled. If they are not, you must call volunteers that might be able to fill the hours. If you cannot fill the hours, despite making numerous phone calls during the appropriate phone hours, you can call
someone on the emergency prayer warrior list. If you still cannot fill the hour, you must contact the vigil coordinator who will be watching the schedule as your backup.

Volunteer Callers – We’d like calls to start the week of July 25th.

Job Description: You will personally invite past participants to join 40 Days for Life again this fall by calling them on the phone to encourage and to remind them to sign up.

Events Team

Job Description: You will plan the kick-off, mid-point and closing events with the 40 Days for Life campaign coordinator. While the vigil itself is the bread and butter of 40 Days for Life, events are
important opportunities for bringing in new people and building up vigil participants.

Outreach Team

Job Description: The outreach team will promote 40 Days for Life outside of the current participants and current churches involved. This would include reaching out to pro-life or Christian organizations
for participation.

Please prayerfully consider signing up to be one of the above needed
volunteers. To volunteer – please respond via e-mail to

A Prayer for Self-sacrifice
Jesus, tender and loving Lamb of God, Utmost Sacrifice of all sacrifices, Your glory is reverberated in the highest. Being preoccupied with my well-being, You chose to self-sacrifice Yourself, Setting aside all Your personal glories. I thank You Lord Jesus for Your act of love! Your action has drawn me closer to You. Teach me to model in smaller things, To sacrifice in order to help others, Guiding my soul to endure abstinence. Lamb of God, I thank you endlessly! We pray this in your Holy Name, Jesus. Amen.
