“The Tuesday before I quit Planned Parenthood, I was eager to tie up loose ends and to leave things in the best shape possible. How would I want the next person to find the office? I wanted to prove to myself that if to no one else, that no matter where I worked, I would always leave behind a mark of integrity, unlike the way I had left WIC, with so much unraveled.

Any lingering worry about how things might go disappeared when Linda reminded me that our nurse practitioner was helping at another clinic that was shorthanded, and because of this, we had cleared the schedule. It would be a no-client day, and we were free to do administrative work.

It seemed to be an answer to a prayer, leaving me a chance to breathe and to stay focused. After all, I had only a couple of days to pull everything together. And by then, my tolerance for deceit of any kind, including my own, was for good reason at a minimum. A day without clients would mean fewer chances to feel conflicted. As I set about my work, I couldn’t help but hum a tune I had heard on the drive in.”

ACT NOW: State Legislature to Hold Public Hearing on Bills Defunding Planned Parenthood

This Wednesday, 9/2/15, the Assembly Health Committee will hold a public hearing in the State Capitol on two bills that that will further defund Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin (PPWI), the state’s largest abortion provider. Authored by Representative Andre Jacque (R-De Pere), Assembly Bill (AB) 310 and Assembly Bill (AB) 311 together will eliminate approximately $7.5 million in public funding from PPWI.

Pro-Life Wisconsin (PLW) State Director Dan Miller and Legislative Director Matt Sande will attend the public hearing. Sande will offer public testimony. Casey Mattox, senior counsel with Alliance Defending Freedom and a national expert on Planned Parenthood’s fraud and abuse of taxpayer dollars, will also testify along with Sue Thayer, former Planned Parenthood of the Heartland clinic manager.

Assembly Bill 310 would redirect federal Title X family planning funds away from organizations that perform or refer for abortions to public entities including state, county, and local health departments and clinics. Currently, more than $3 million annually in Title X funds are granted directly to PPWI.

Assembly Bill 311 would dramatically reduce PPWI’s Medicaid reimbursement rate for contraceptive drugs, paying them at the actual cost they pay for these drugs, not the artificially inflated rate they and other family planning clinics are getting now. This will eliminate $4.5 million from PPWI.

In 2011, PLW was the lead organization in defunding PPWI of $1 million annually in Title V block grant funding, forcing the closure of 5 of their birth control/abortion referral clinics. With your continued help, we will close them all!

Lord of Life and Truth,
Your Providence guides the course of history.
You have conquered death
And have made us the People of Life.
You call us to fight the evil of abortion

“What is the absolute last moment for a woman to change her mind before having an abortion? It’s not after the family or boyfriend suggests abortion is the right choice or offers to pay for an abortion. It’s not after a phone call to Planned Parenthood or another abortion provider to make an appointment. It’s not after they drive to the facility and go inside. It’s not after they fill out the paperwork in the lobby, wondering how it came to this. It’s not even after their name is called and they’re walking down the hall to have the abortion.

No, the very last moment is the moment that many post-abortive women say was the moment they knew they were about to lose part of themselves forever. It’s the moment when they lie down on the table and brace themselves for the actual abortion. At that last moment, according to women who’ve been there, abortion seems inevitable. It also seems unimaginable to change your mind after all you have been through up to that moment. Everything seems so final, so irreversible. It seems unimaginable to get up and leave at that moment…

But that is exactly what one young mom did in Orange, California, during a 40 Days for Life Campaign in spring of 2011!

Prayer volunteers at the 40 Days for Life vigil in Orange County were caught by surprise as the doors of the abortion center flew open and a frightened, barefoot young woman ran out. A young man who appeared to be her boyfriend or husband came out right after her, apparently looking for her.”

This young woman chose LIFE for her baby just as did a young woman who Vigil for Life Sidewalk Counselors met on the sidewalk last week on Thursday morning. She told them that she just “couldn’t go through with it” and went over to the Women’s Care Center. Praise God!

If there is nobody on the sidewalk to meet these young mothers – from where will their help come?

Protect me against indifference and renew in me the hope that at any moment your grace and witness can work to save a life so close to being lost. I ask this your name, Jesus. Amen.

Protest of Planned Parenthood in Madison

On Monday, August 24, 2015, Madison pro-lifers will join the nationwide efforts to protest Planned Parenthood’s barbaric practice of aborting babies and selling their body parts.
In the wake of the horrific videos exposing this practice, now is the time for people of faith to stand up and demand an end to the nation’s largest abortion provider:

“We’ve had enough of exhortations to be silent!  Cry out with a hundred thousand tongues. I see that the world is rotten because of silence.”  – St. Catherine of Siena

The above quote from St. Catherine of Siena rings true today especially in the wake of the release of videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s selling of organs from babies that they abort.  And – now, governmental agencies, judges and much of the administration in the White House is trying to cover it  all up.  Judges have blocked release of more of these videos until hearings scheduled later this month.   Words coming from the White House say that the videos are “fraudulent”.  We know that there is truth in those videos and we know the truth about abortion.  We must not be silent nor be silenced!

We had two turn aways this past week (that we know of)!  Both times the sidewalk counselor called out to a young woman about to enter Planned Parenthood and instead of going into PP the young woman approached the sidewalk counselor – heard about the Woman’s Care Center and went there instead!  Praise our living God!!

Please bring your peaceful, prayerful witness for the Gospel of Life to the sidewalk this week!

Vigil for Life Volunteer Appreciation Picnic

We are grateful to God for you!

We appreciate all of our prayer warriors, sidewalk counselors and priests who consistently support our mission and make sure that there is a peaceful, prayerful presence outside of Planned Parenthood.

Vigil for Life will provide hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages.  Please bring a dish to pass as assigned by the first letter of your last name:

A-I – Please bring a salad; J-Q – Please bring a side dish and R-Z – Please bring a dessert.

Don’t forget swimsuits for your children.  Lakeview Park has an awesome splash pad!

We are in full planning mode for our upcoming 40 Days for Life campaign!  This year’s 24/7 campaign starts on Wednesday, September 23rd at 6p and ends on Sunday, Nov. 1st at 5p.  We are still looking to fill some of our volunteer positions:

Vigil Day Captain

Ensure that either 12 hours or 24 hours of the same day each week throughout the 40 days has a presence on the sidewalk by calling people to fill any open spots.  (A great way for someone who cannot make it to the sidewalk to still be very involved with sharing the Gospel of Life.)

Emergency Prayer Warrior – Day (8a-6p) or Night (6p-8a)

Put your name on the list to fill hours when all other resources have been exhausted. You can give your availability for getting these calls.
