Let us prepare ourselves in prayer for the start of 40 Days for Life (in 7 days!), asking for the Holy Spirit to inspire and strengthen us!

Let us pray,

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Your love.  Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created.  And You shall renew the face of the earth.

Thou, of all consolers best, Visiting the troubled breast, Dost refreshing peace bestow.

Come, O Blessed Spirit of Piety, possess my heart.  Enkindle therein such a love for God, that I may find satisfaction only in His service, and for His sake lovingly submit to all legitimate authority.  Amen.

16 hours still remain open for this week!

This past week Vigil for Life sidewalk counselors were able to send, at least, two young women who had appointments at Planned Parenthood over to the Women’s Care Center!  Praise God!  Please keep a young Mom & Dad in your prayers – a sidewalk counselor spoke to them on the sidewalk this past Friday.  Please pray that they will go to the Women’s Care Center before they make their final decision (they are currently leaning towards abortion).

 
Please bring your witness to the sidewalk this week!

Mark your calendars for Monday, September 25 at 6 p.m. for our 40 Days for LifeKick off event with Eric Scheidler.  Eric Scheidler is the executive director of the Pro-Life Action League, founded in 1980 by his father, veteran pro-life leader Joe Scheidler. The League recruits, equips and trains pro-life Americans to put their convictions into action at the grassroots level through peaceful direct action. Under Eric’s leadership, the League’s headquarters city of Chicago has become “ground zero” for pro-life activism nationally.
 
The kick off event will take place at Holy Name Heights (a.k.a. Bishop O’ Connor Center) 702 S. High Point Rd., Madison

VIGIL FOR LIFE ANNUAL RESPECT LIFE RETREAT

It’s time to mark your calendars for our Respect Life Retreat that will be onSeptember 15 & 16, 2017 for this year.  A great lead in to 40 Days for Life that starts on Wednesday, September 27 this year.

Vigil For Life invites you to come away to be re-energized in your prayer and work to protect life.   Please join us for this Respect Life Retreat led by  Fr. Dear Friends of Vigil for Life,

Just two weeks from tomorrow, we will enter the largest 40 Days for Life campaign ever — in 375 cities!

Our nation — and our world — need prayer. 

No one grows up wanting an abortion … and your presence offers hope for women who feel they have no other option.

Even if you “see” no results, your prayers are there in solidarity with those baby boys and baby girls who are losing their lives just a short distance away from where you stand.

Though the world would stand ready to abandon these children, your prayers guarantee that they are not alone and not forgotten at that moment.

There is no peace inside of an abortion facility. 

The abortion industry survives on the despair of secularism, which claims we can do whatever we want to whomever we want. Without God, we can place our will over others and appoint ourselves as the judge of their value.

That is the topic of the newest 40 Days for Life podcast episode, which discusses the power of prayer and the sterility of secularism:

We also break down the recent claim from Iceland that they’ve “eradicated” Down syndrome. Of course, all they have done is abort those who have it.

You won’t want to miss this!

Dear Friends of Vigil for Life –

Please mark your calendars for our 2017 40 Days for Life Kick-off event!  It will be at 6 p.m. on Monday, September 25 at Holy Name Heights (a.k.a. Bishop O’Connor Center).  You won’t want to miss this because our guest speaker is Eric Scheidler!!

Eric Scheidler is the Executive Director of the Pro-Life Action League, founded in 1980

by his father, veteran pro-life leader Joe Scheidler, to fight abortion through non-violent

direct action. He is the oldest of the seven Scheidler children.

 

Eric holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois and a master’s degree in

English studies from the University of Georgia. From 1998 to 2002, he served as assistant

director of The GIFT Foundation, an organization devoted to enriching Christian

marriage.

 

Since August 2007, Eric has headed the grassroots pro-life group Fox Valley Families

Against Planned Parenthood, which is dedicated to shutting down the largest abortion

facility in the Midwest, opened in Aurora, Illinois under a cloud of deception and

controversy. He consults regularly with activists across the country on fighting Planned

Parenthood at the local level.

 

In 2012, Eric co-directed a nationwide series of Stand Up for Religious Freedom rallies

in opposition to the Obamacare HHS Mandate, which forces employer health plans to

provide free contraceptives and abortion-inducing drugs. He continues to work with the

hundreds of local leaders recruited for that effort on other pro-life initiatives, including

the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children, held annually on the third

Saturday of September since 2013.

 

Most recently, Eric has expanded and mobilized his nationwide network of local pro-life

leaders as one of the three national co-directors of ProtestPP, a coalition of pro-life

groups formed to protest Planned Parenthood’s trafficking in aborted fetal tissue and

boost the pro-life presence at their abortion facilities going forward.

 

Eric speaks frequently on pro-life issues to audiences around the United States and internationally. He lives in Aurora, Illinois with his wife April and their eight children.

National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children event reminder

NATIONAL DAY OF REMEMBRANCE FOR ABORTED CHILDREN – SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH

 
Join us for Holy Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s in Dane (109 S. Military Rd.).  After Mass we will process out to the gravesite of the aborted baby who was named Malachai for a brief memorial.
 

By participating in the National Day of Remembrance, visiting these solemn memorial places at other times of the year, and spreading the word about this prayer campaign, you are helping to humanize our aborted brothers and sisters and deepening your own commitment to ending the injustice of abortion.
