Peaceful, prayerful, effective 40 Days for Life campaign to build on successes in Madison

Madison, WI – “On September 27, the highly successful 40 Days for Life campaign returns to Madison with 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil and community outreach,” said Gwen Finnegan, who is coordinating the local campaign. “We pray that these efforts will help mark the beginning of the end of abortion in the Madison area.”

Finnegan said, “We know 40 Days for Life has made a difference in Madison. Our volunteers have made extraordinary sacrifices to expose the abortion industry and to protect children and their mothers from abortion.” Here are just a few of the positive results of previous Madison campaign(s).

• 5 lives saved from abortion – that we know of
• 20 parishes from the Diocese of Madison working together to fill vigil hours
• Countless young mothers referred and sent over to the Women’s Care Center

40 Days for Life is a peaceful, highly-focused, non-denominational initiative that focuses on 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil at abortion facilities, and grassroots educational outreach. The 40-day time frame is drawn from examples throughout Biblical history.

The campaign will feature a peaceful 40-day prayer vigil in the public right-of-way outside Planned Parenthood at 3706 Orin Road. All prayer vigil participants are asked to sign a statement of peace, pledging to conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner at all times.

“40 Days for Life has generated proven life-saving results since its beginning in 2004 in Bryan/College Station, Texas,” said Shawn Carney, president of 40 Days for Life. “During 20 previous coordinated campaigns, 715 communities have participated in this effort. More than 750,000 people – representing some 19,000 churches – have committed to pray and fast. And we know of at least 13,305 unborn children whose lives were spared from abortion during 40 Days for Life campaigns.”

Hello Friends of Vigil for Life –

We are looking for a few extra hands for this year’s 40 Days for Life 24/7 campaign.  It begins on Wed., 9/27 and ends on Sun., 11/5.  We are in need of Vigil Day Captains.  This is a good way to help if you are not able to make it to the sidewalk but are able to make phone calls from your home.

I received a call today from one of our sidewalk counselors that a young mother and father took her invitation to visit the Women’s Care Center instead of keeping their appointment at Planned Parenthood.  It is always a good thing when young parents choose to go to the Women’s Care Center instead of Planned Parenthood!  All glory to God!

It’s time to mark your calendars for our Respect Life Retreat that will be on September 15 & 16, 2017for this year.  A great lead in to 40 Days for Life that starts on Wednesday, September 27 this year.

Vigil For Life invites you to come away to be re-energized in your prayer and work to protect life.   Please join us for this Respect Life Retreat led by  Fr. This past week we received word of two confirmed turn aways – young mothers heading into Planned Parenthood who, due to the witness of Vigil for Life volunteers,  ended up changing their minds and didn’t even go in there!  Praise God!

Dear Friends of Life –

Great news!  I got a call earlier today from one of our sidewalk counselors.  She had spoken with a young Father (who had a young child in a carseat in the backseat of his vehicle) during the 1 p.m. hour and shared with him about the Women’s Care Center and gave him encouraging words about choosing life for his child still being formed in his wife’s womb.  He left for a short time while his wife was inside Planned Parenthood.  He returned during the 2 p.m. hour and his wife came running out of Planned Parenthood to his vehicle.  They shared with our sidewalk counselor that they had chosen life for thier baby!  PRAISE GOD from whom all blessings flow!  Please keep them in your prayers!
