We had sidewalk counselor training this past Thursday evening. We were blessed to have Laura Karlen (Vigil for Life Board President and sidewalk counselor), Mary Markielewski (Vigil for Life Board member and seasoned sidewalk counselor) and Kila Hagie (Women’s Care Center Director) present different parts of our training. Kila mentioned that when young mothers come into the Women’s Care Center they often say, “They (meaning all those praying or sidewalk counseling on the sidewalk) told me you could help me. Can you help me?” That’s when the staff at the Women’s Care Center shows just how helpful they are to mothers in crisis pregnancies.

June 7 marks the 52nd anniversary of the Supreme Court decision Griswold v. Connecticut, which set a legal precedent by claiming the Constitution grants women the “right to privacy” in matters of sexual practice. This paved the way for Roe v. Wade and abortion on demand. As in years past, Pro-Life Wisconsin affiliates will observe the day with prayer and a community presence outside abortion mills and birth control centers. Matt Sande, Legislative Director of Pro-Life Wisconsin, will lead this vigil. There will be an ice cream social sponsored by Pro-Life Wisconsin at Culver’s by East Town Mall afterwards.
