Loving God, 
I am just beginning to realize how much you love me.
Your son, Jesus was humble and obedient.
He fulfilled your will for him by becoming human and suffering with us.
I ask you for the desire to become more humble
so that my own life might also bear witness to you.
I want to use the small sufferings I have in this world
to give you glory. 

Please, Lord, guide my mind with your truth.
Strengthen my life by the example of Jesus.
Help me to be with Jesus in this week
as he demonstrates again his total love for me.
He died so that I would no longer
be separated from you.
Help me to feel how close you are
and to live in union with you.

14 open hours this week! Not too late for Lenten sacrifices – sign up today!

It helps, now and then, to step back and take a long view.

The kingdom is not only beyond our efforts, it is even beyond our vision.

We accomplish in our lifetime only a tiny fraction of the magnificent
enterprise that is God’s work. Nothing we do is complete, which is a way of
saying that the Kingdom always lies beyond us.

No statement says all that could be said.

No prayer fully expresses our faith.

No confession brings perfection.

No pastoral visit brings wholeness.

No program accomplishes the Church’s mission.

No set of goals and objectives includes everything.

This is what we are about.

We plant the seeds that one day will grow.

We water seeds already planted, knowing that they hold future promise.

We lay foundations that will need further development.

We provide yeast that produces far beyond our capabilities.

We cannot do everything, and there is a sense of liberation in realizing that.

This enables us to do something, and to do it very well.

It may be incomplete, but it is a beginning, a step along the way, an
opportunity for the Lord’s grace to enter and do the rest.

We may never see the end results, but that is the difference between the master
builder and the worker.

We are workers, not master builders; ministers, not messiahs.

We are prophets of a future not our own.

This past week while I was praying on the sidewalk outside of Planned Parenthood, the woman who I was praying with told me this story:  Last year during our fall 40 Days for Life campaign while she was praying for an end to abortion and wondering if her time was being well spent, a young mother pulled up her car and told her that she had been contemplating abortion for her baby however had chosen life because someone praying on the sidewalk gave her a baby blanket.  The baby blanket helped her choose life for her baby!

Stories such as the above are always beautiful, uplifting and encouraging!  For every 1 of those stories we do hear there are probably 10 more that we don’t hear.

Lenten Prayer for Life from Bishop Conley of Denver

Almighty Father and Lord of Life,
You have entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding and protecting human life
with the utmost care from the moment of conception to natural death (Gaudium et Spes, No. 51).

During this holy season of Lent, a time of both penance and great hope,
stir in our hearts a greater love for you and for each other.
During these 40 days of spiritual renewal,
lead us to a deeper conversion so that by living in your light and love we may bear witness to the gift of life.

Lord Jesus, the firstborn of all creation, have mercy on us.
Accept our prayers and our fasting in atonement for the tragic sin of abortion.
By the merits of your precious blood,
shed for our redemption, instill in all hearts a profound respect for the gift of life
and bring about an end to abortion, euthanasia and every other assault on innocent human life.

Reawaken in the heart of every pregnant mother a profound love for the life growing in her womb
and grant to her unfailing courage to choose life for her child.

Come Holy Spirit, strengthen us and give us fortitude to work tirelessly to promote a true Culture of Life,

Psalm 127:3-5 “Children too are a gift from the Lord, the fruit of the womb, a reward.  Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children born in one’s youth.  Blessed are they whose quivers are full.  They will never be shamed contending with foes at the gate.”

Children are no mistake or accident. The day of their birth was long ago determined by God as the psalmist wrote, “Your eyes foresaw my actions; in your book all are written down; my days were shaped, before one came to be.” (Psalm 139:16) So children are a blessing, a gift from God not unexpected and they should be given thanks for to God. What greater joy is there than to be at the birth or hear the news that a baby has been born?!
Yes, babies are a blessing, a gift and a reward!  Because of the devaluation of human life done by abortion in our society, some people have other thoughts about babies.
We must continue to pray for and stand for a Culture of Life.

Prayer of Thanksgiving for Babies
 O God, we give you thanks for babies
whom you have knit together in their mother’s wombs.

 

They are truly a blessing, a gift and a reward.
Please bless all families.
Confirm a sense of your presence with them,
and grant them patience and the wisdom to
see this truth.
We pray that their lives may show forth the love of Christ,
as they raise their babies up to love you and all that is good.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Mother and baby saved from the death grip of abortion TODAY!

One of our sidewalk counselors out this morning said he was able to direct a young mother and her friend over to the Women’s Care Center instead of them go into Planned Parenthood. On the way out of the Women’s Care Center, the young mother told our sidewalk counselor that she was keeping her baby and that before being directed to the Women’s Care Center she was planning on having an abortion. Praise God that this young mother chose life for her and her baby! Praise God for working through our sidewalk counselors!

As you may know, the Spring 40 Days for Life campaign is happening now in many cities throughout the world.  Even though we are not holding an official “40 Days for Life” campaign, our prayers for an end to abortion are still joined with theirs.  Many of the locations holding a 40 Days for Life spring campaign do not have a year-round presence outside of the abortion facilities like we do.  We are able to do this because of your commitment to witnessing for the Gospel of Life.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Prayer for the Unborn (from EWTN)
Heavenly Father, in Your love for us, protect against the wickedness of the devil, those helpless little ones to whom You have given the gift of life. Touch with pity the hearts of those women pregnant in our world today who are not thinking of motherhood. Help them to see that the child they carry is made in Your image – as well as theirs – made for eternal life. Dispel their fear and selfishness; give them true womanly hearts to love their babies and give them birth and all the needed care that a mother can give. We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord, Who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.

Norma McCorvey was the “Roe” in Roe v. Wade.  She never did have an abortion.  Like so many in the Pro-Life movement, Norma had a conversion and became a great supporter of LIFE.  Norma died yesterday at the age of 69.  May she, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Dear Lord Jesus, help us to show kindness to all, including the weakest of the weak, the unborn. Let us learn from you, who have never failed to lavish kindness and mercy on all creatures. “With enduring love I take pity on you” (Isaiah 54:8). Indeed “All the paths of the lord are kindness and constancy” (Psalm 25:10).

Kindness is, of course, love in action, so we beg you, Dear Lord Jesus, to fill us with love. You have told us that the greatest commandment is “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind: (Matthew 22:37), and only if we obey that can we truly obey the second, which is, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39). We ask you this in your name.  Amen.
