Baby saved! 8.2.2013 special email

Dear Friends,

God is great! This past Wednesday, July 31st, another baby (and mother) were saved from the jaws of abortion!

I received the following email from a mother who prayed with her 5 small children on a day we know abortions are done all day long:

“After a walking rosary with my kids, we were finishing our prayer by kneeling in front of PP. I looked up one time during the prayer and saw a woman sitting in the waiting room area of PP – – she was watching us. After we finished our prayer and were packing up to go, my oldest child told me she thought we had a save. She went on to tell me that the woman in the waiting room had gotten up and left in her car. Upon leaving, she looked at my daughter and mouthed the words “thank you”. Praise God! We were so happy and wanted to share the good news with you and your wonderful organization.”

Take note that no words were exchanged, no counseling was done…only prayer and their presence, a sacrifice they made not knowing that this would be the day God would reward them with a baby saved. Eyes were opened, a heart was changed, and a child will live! Praise God, indeed!!

Urgent Prayer Requests:

The same day I received this blessed news, I also received a request for prayers for a young abortion-minded mother. This request came from a prayer warrior whose counseling several months ago saved another young woman from abortion. She says the only way this will work is if this girl reaches out to her since she has no contact information on her. Please pray that this connection happens and that the result is life….for both of them!
Please pray for a Polish foreign exchange student who was scheduled to go to Planned Parenthood yesterday to receive RU-486. We are unsure if she came to her appointment. She has been counseled but does not want her child. Pray that God has touched her heart and she realizes there are alternative paths to go.
For life,

Bette Weisshaar

Dear Fellow Prayer Warriors,

REMINDER #1: TOMORROW – Tuesday, July 30th, is our day of prayer and fasting! Join together in this day of sacrifice and prayer that God will provide the workers for His vineyard. 40 Days for Life requires many man hours to make it succeed. Our volunteer service is the least we can give back to Him who gave us life. Fast and pray tomorrow that our volunteer meeting will yield the laborers needed for a fruitful fall 40 Days for Life campaign!

REMINDER #2: WEDNESDAY, JULY 31st, is our Volunteer Meeting for the fall 40 Days for Life campaign! Come and listen to our guest speaker, Jim Ball, as he outlines how to fill this demanding vigil schedule before it even starts! Come and see how YOU can be part of this peaceful, prayerful event and save lives, change hearts.

Wednesday, July 31, at 7:00pm
Bishop O’Connor Center (702 S. High Point Drive Madison, WI 53719) – Follow the sign for the room number when you come in the main entrance.
With your volunteer efforts and prayers, minds and hearts will recognize the truth about abortion; then finally the doors of all abortuaries will close, including those of Planned Parenthood.

“And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Luke 11: 1-13)

Sidewalk Counseling Training Session – Sign Up at the Volunteer Meeting!

Want to turn victims away from Planned Parenthood? There will be a Sign-Up Sheet at the Volunteer Meeting on Wednesday for those who are interested in learning how to counsel on the sidewalk. If you’d like to learn from those experienced in this special mission, you’ll have the opportunity to sign up that evening. If there is enough interest, we will hold a training session before 40 Days for Life. You can also send an email to info@vigilforlife.org or call Bette Weisshaar at 608-358-5963.

Announcements:

Prayer Request – Please pray for one of our prayer warriors who will undergo skin cancer surgery on Tuesday and is offering up her suffering: “I have been told I will end up with a hole in my nose and when I think of this I will think of those mothers that are pregnant and I will beg God to let those mothers choose life so they won’t end up with a hole in their hearts. In the afternoon on July 30th I will be having a surgical repair by ENT to fix the removed tissue from my nose, and I will be praying for those unfortunate babies who were considered to be tissues instead of babies and for their mothers and fathers, doctors and nurses who didn’t see them as babies either and chose to abort.” Pray for her as she carries her cross….
Rosary Rally – Every Thursday at 7:00pm with Fr. Rick Heilman at the State St. steps of the Capitol. Last Thursday rain kept threatening to make it a soggy prayer vigil. It sprinkled on and off throughout the hour, even though the forecast said it would storm at 7:00. At 8:00pm when everyone got in their cars, the skies opened. Our Lady protected us once again!
God bless you!

Dear Prayer Warriors,

Please mark your calendars for next Tuesday, July 30th! In preparation for our Volunteer Meeting on Wednesday, July 31st, we are asking you to join us in a day of prayer and fasting, petitioning Our Lord to provide the volunteers needed to make our fall 40 Days for Life a successful and fruitful campaign.

What specifically can you do to participate in this day?

Below are two different kinds of fasting options:

Sacrifices
Prayers
No TV
No coffee
Foregoing buying unnecessary things and giving the saved money to charity
Eating only bread and water for one meal a day
No sweets
No radio/CDs
No internet
No video games
No eating between meals
Offering up all inconveniences or ‘thorns’
1/2 hour listening to Praise and Worship and praying
Stations of the Cross
Making a Holy Hour
A Rosary
Daily Mass
An extra 20 minutes of Bible reading and Meditation
a Chaplet of Divine Mercy
Prayer for the conversion of hearts to Life
Silent conversation with God
You get the idea! Give up your favorite thing or activity for ONE DAY and pray, pray, pray!

“There is a commandment laid on us to fast. For fasting helps to destroy sin, and to raise the mind to thoughts of the spiritual world. Each man is then bound, by the natural law of the matter, to fast just as much as is necessary to help him in these matters. Which is to say that fasting in general is a matter of natural law.” – St. Thomas Aquinas

Dear Friends,

This was indeed a week of “highs and lows” for those on the sidewalk at Planned Parenthood. The parking lot was full on Tuesday; it looked like another busy abortion day was unfolding. Women and couples entered and left without responding to offers of help. Most didn’t even acknowledge that prayer warriors were there, staring straight ahead, expressionless as they crossed the lot and entered the abortuary. To those out there praying, it appeared to be a very discouraging day.

Then came Wednesday!

Two cars went by, honked and gave a thumbs up.
A passerby on his way to the bus stop took time to tell a prayer warrior what he observed on Tuesday – how two girls left the Planned Parenthood parking lot and headed to the Women’s Care Center. When he saw this, he turned to his friends, “See? It works! A life was just saved!” He was very excited and wanted her to know that PRAYERS WORK AND HE WAS THANKFUL WE ARE OUT THERE!
Near the end of the day, two prayer warriors reported that a pregnant mother with two toddlers stopped by. She was planning to go to Planned Parenthood to set up an appointment (they think to end the child’s life). They gave her pro-life literature and stayed until closing. The mother never went in. Please pray that their kind words and pro-life material will guide her to choose life.
Your presence and prayer reaches even those with no connection to Planned Parenthood, ones who are just walking or driving by on their way to somewhere else. These occasions are also prayers answered, recognitions that life ends in this place and something is being done to change that.

Then Friday came…. Please pray for a young couple in the parking lot who seemed scared and confused, in need of our prayers. They too were counseled and given literature. Please ask Our Lord to show them the way!

Jesus calls us to be Good Samaritans and treat others with mercy. Walking and praying on the sidewalk are acts of mercy to those going astray, instructing observers to “Go and do likewise.” Open hours are listed below. It’s time to say yes to God’s call; we ALL can give an hour for LIFE!

Open Hours This Week:

Tuesday, 7/16/13: 1 needed at 2:00 and 4:00pm ; 2 needed at noon and 3:00pm 6 hours open! Only 63% filled!

Wednesday, 7/17/13: 1 needed at 8:00am and 1:00pm; 2 needed at 10:00, noon, 3:00, 4:00, and 5:00pm 12 OPEN HOURS!! Only 35% filled!

Friday, 7/19/13: 1 needed at 2:00pm

A Funeral Home Vehicle at Planned Parenthood
National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children
Information You Can Use on the Sidewalk
Open Hours this Week
Reminder: Volunteer Meeting on July 31st
Dear Prayer Warriors,

Last Wednesday, a Planned Parenthood-scheduled abortion day, something very rare occurred that I would like to share with you and ask for your prayers for all concerned.

As we were praying and sidewalk counseling, a funeral home vehicle pulled into the parking lot. The driver went into the abortuary, came out a short time later with a small package, and then drove off.

Although a rare occurrence, sidewalk counselors have reported this type of thing in the past. It is a stark reminder that we ARE dealing with the loss of human life; there ARE human remains resulting from abortion. Funeral homes deal with human remains and we are thankful that they offer a humane way of burial, that, in their hands, babies are not discarded or used improperly.

As always, please pray for the repose of the souls of these lives tragically taken.

National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children

Please mark your calendars for this special day! More information is to come but on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, Pro-Life Wisconsin will be participating in a National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children to honor the gravesites of our unborn brothers and sisters. Go to www.abortionmemorials.com to learn more about this call to action! This link will also be posted on vigilforlife.org; please share this so that eyes can be opened and hearts changed.

Info You Can Use on the Sidewalk:

The following link is a useful tool to help you with questions and talking points regarding the birth control pill and other birth control products. Whether you are out at Planned Parenthood, the workplace, or wherever the debate comes up about birth control, this information will give you the resources to educate and change minds. Please become knowledgeable about dangerous side effects and the facts of how artificial contraception kills mothers and babies. This link will also be posted on vigilforlife.org.
http://thepillkills.com/talkingpoints.php

As you may recall, an ambulance was called to Planned Parenthood on June 5, 2013. Steve Karlen has composed an abortion fact sheet which can be given to abortion-minded clients. It is a one-page personal greeting to those entering the abortion mill urging them to consider the health and safety risks involved with abortion and encouraging them to get another opinion at the Women’s Care Center. Thank you, Steve, for this well done information sheet! It will be posted on vigilforlife.org.

Open Hours This Week – PLEASE HELP…

This Thursday we celebrate the birthday of our blessed country, a country founded on freedomfor all.  The definition of this word has been distorted and warped, changed to mean the freedom to do whatever suits MY wants, MY desires, MY selfish lifestyle. The right to live, a basic right, depends on how I feel about it, if it fits into my life’s schedule. And so appeared contraception, abortion, euthanasia – a culture of death.

We have a spiritual battle on our hands to undo this.  We have a duty to combat this evil and not presume that God will take care of it in the end.  It is up to each of us to answer this call to battle.

“Let us ask our Lord that we may be souls who are ready to work with a heroism that proves fruitful.”  (St. Josemaria Escriva)

Prayer warriors reported that last week business was booming at Planned Parenthood and that later in the week there were many first appointments in preparation for abortions this week. Can you help??

Dear Prayer Warriors,

“If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” (Luke Ch. 9)

Have YOU signed up for prayer hours on the sidewalks of Planned Parenthood? Can you take up this cross and give one or two hours of your time for life?  We are in desperate need of volunteers to commit to this week and the weeks beyond.

Not one day this week is 100% filled; please step up and sign up!

Christian life demands action.  Tomorrow we celebrate the birth of St. John the Baptist, who leapt with joy in his mother’s womb and then gave his life for Christ.  We are called to show others the truth as he did; this demands sacrifice.  Please choose an hour or hours from the list below and save our vigil captain some phone calls!

Open Hours This Week:

Monday, 6/24/13: 1 needed at 9:00 and 10:00am

Tuesday, 6/25/13: 1 needed at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, noon, and 3:00pm; 2 needed at 1:00, 2:00, and 4:00pm  11 hours open!  Only 31% filled!

Dear Fathers and Families,

As you enjoy a beautiful and blessed Father’s Day:

  • Remember in prayer all of the fathers this day who are not thinking about fatherhood but rather of their own selfish interests and desires.
  • Remember the fathers who will elect to end the life of their child this week, even forcing women to do so, because it isn’t on their radar to be responsible and loving dads.
  • Remember the fathers who have made this decision in the past and suffer on Father’s Day realizing this day could have been a joyous one shared with a son or daughter but now grieve a choice that cannot be undone.
  • Remember the grandfathers, brothers, and uncles who will not know the preborn family members whose lives were taken from them and whose voices were never heard.
  • Remember the fathers who will be at Planned Parenthood this week whose heart can be changed if YOU are on the sidewalk in prayer.

There are so many for whom to pray!

There are so many unfilled hours for you to do so!

Below is this week’s list of open hours.  If we are not out there in prayer, abortion-minded fathers will have no reason to choose otherwise….we have a duty to speak for the voiceless. Which day and hour can you be there???

Open Hours This Week:

Tuesday, 6/18/13: 1 needed at 11:00, noon, and 3:00pm; 2 needed at 1:00,2:00, and 4:00pm  9 hours open!  Only 44% filled!

Wednesday, 6/19/13: 1 needed at 11:00, 1:00, and 2:00pm;  2 needed at8:00, 9:00, noon, 3:00, 4:00, and 5:00pm  15 OPEN HOURS!!  Only 25% filled!

Thursday, 6/20/13: 1 needed at 5:00pm

Friday, 6/21/13: 1 needed at 2:00pm

Go to vigilforlife.org or call Bette Weisshaar at 608-358-5963 or email at info@vigilforlife.org to sign up for one of these hours or a monthly recurrent hour.

It is, no doubt, a sacrifice to be out there praying. God has a master plan and trust Him we must!

“…God wants only that we be made holy.  Whatever he gives or permits in this life he gives for this purpose: trial as well as consolation, hurt and mockery and abuse, the world’s harassments and the devil’s temptations, hunger and thirst; illness and poverty as well as pleasure and prosperity.  God permits all of these for our good.”  (St. Catherine of Siena)

TWO MORE TURNAWAYS LAST WEDNESDAY!

  • First was a pregnant woman who left her car parked at Planned Parenthood and headed over to the Women’s Care Center.
  • A woman who never entered Planned Parenthood, got in her car and drove across the street

Praise God for giving us these signs of prayers answered!

Dear Friends,

Last Wednesday prayer warriors report that a woman was taken out of Planned Parenthood on a stretcher and left in an ambulance. We have no more information than this and ask for your prayers. This drives home the fact that abortion is a dangerous procedure, one that can cost the life of the mother.  Women need to be reminded of this as they sign the paperwork in the waiting room; it’s in the fine print of their documents!

As one of the vigil participants on that Wednesday explained, “It was an emotional day.”  Shortly after the ambulance left, a young man came out of Planned Parenthood and asked for her to pray with him.  Initially the prayer warrior thought he was with the woman in the ambulance but his situation was totally different.  “He and the person inside (wife or girlfriend) have a six-month-old child at home and, as we were talking, she was having an abortion.  I was really shaken by this, was on my knees and began to pray….”  He refused Rachel’s Vineyard literature and went back inside.  Please pray for the little angel that was received by God that day and for these parents who will begin their grief journey.

Pray also for all out on the sidewalk praying and counseling, that God will guide and comfort them as they work to do His will.  As Saint Catherine of Siena says to us all, “….We have no permanence in time.  So we have to have the light of the most holy faith if we would reach our goal without the darkness getting in our way. But it must be a living faith, that is, a faith accompanied by good deeds since the saints say that faith without deeds is dead.” We can’t just profess that we are pro-life.  We have to DO something about it!  Have YOU signed up for hours recently???

Griswold v. Connecticut Vigil Successful!

Last Thursday evening about 14 prayer warriors gathered in front of Planned Parenthood to commemorate the anniversary of the passage of legislation which allowed artificial contraception to become the law of the land.  We thank Laura Karlen for an informative presentation on the history of Griswold v. Connecticut and how it impacted our culture to change from one focused on life to one focused on death.  May God help us to change it back!
