18 open hours still this week! MERRY CHRISTMAS!

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us; upon his shoulder dominion rests.  They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero, Father-Forever, Prince of Peace.  Isaiah 9:5

The angel said to them, “ Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy, that will be for all the people.  For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord.  And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was a multitude of heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”  Luke 2: 10-14
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. John 3:16
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
God chose to give his only Son to us as a perfect baby.  The most amazing and beautiful way that God knits a baby together in a mother’s womb shows the great care that God has for humanity.  Babies are a perfect way to start people (and of course God knows this).
We must continue to speak up for the babies whose lives are at risk of being lost to abortion.
Please sign up for an hour this week:

A Christmas Day Prayer by Priests for Life

Praise to You, Lord God!

You have become one of us — You have become a human being, while still retaining all your power and holiness as God!

You, O Lord, made the journey of the unborn child. By being an embryo, a fetus, and a newborn, you joined all unborn and newborn children to you!

From the beginning of history, O Lord, You were the Creator of every human life. Now, with Christmas, You join Yourself in an unthinkable way with the life You created.

Let this Christmas, O God, fill all of us with awe and wonder at how close human life is to You. Cleanse the world of all that tarnishes and rejects this gift. Purify our hearts of all that fears this gift.

Let our Christmas joy be the joy of welcoming every human lifeAmen!

Hurry! The Lord is near!  Soon Advent will come to a close and we will celebrate the birth of our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ.  It is always sad to think of the reality of abortion and how it ends a human life.  It is especially sad to contemplate this reality during this joyous time of year.  Yet, we must as abortions will be happening at Planned Parenthood in Madison this week before Holy Christmas and the week after and on into the New Year.

Please bring some Advent joy and the message of LIFE to the sidewalk this week.

Please bring your presence to the sidewalk this week!

PEACE IN THE WOMB CAROLING
In the midst of all the cultural and political battles tearing apart our society over the past year, one idea around which all Americans can unite is the Christmas hope for “Peace on Earth.” Here in Madison, local pro-life advocates want to see that same hope extended to every member of the human family, including unborn children.
On Thursday, December 14 at 10 a.m.Vigil for Life will call for “Peace in the Womb” by singing Christmas carols in front of the Planned Parenthood abortion facility at 3706 Orin Rd.

27 open hours yet this week!!!

This past week there were two turn aways from PP that were reported.  One young woman was there looking forbirth control and was told by one of our sidewalk counselors that this particular PP is an abortion only facility.  The young woman immediately left upon hearing that information.  She did not go inside of PP.  Another young woman had just come out of PP and spoke with one of our sidewalk counselors at the driveway as she was leaving the parking lot.  She said she wanted to have her baby! Praise God!  She went straight over to the Women’s Care Center from PP after hearing about it from our sidewalk counselor.

17 open hours this week!

Two of the voices from SILENT NO MORE (from 40 Days for Life – Discover what God has done… Imagine what He can do. By: David Bereit and Shawn Carney with Cindy Lambert):

1.  I’m always wondering what my child would’ve been or done in life.  A part of me is missing.  A piece of the puzzle is lost.  I just hope that I can help other women who have had abortions or are contemplating abortion.
2.  I’ll never see or hold my baby, at least not on earth.  It was traumatic.  I hated myself and I didn’t want to live.  It negatively affected my relationships with children and men.  I became very heard of heart, not helping other people.  Until Jesus came into my life I had a hard time accepting love.
This week there will be young mothers who are contemplating abortion because they are lost.  Please bring your light to the sidewalk this week to show them THE WAY.

A Pro-life Prayer for Thanksgiving Day by Priests for Life

Father of mercies,
God of all creation,
Source of life and of every blessing,
We thank you today, and every day of our lives,
For all that you give us!

Our thanksgiving is not only a duty,

But a joy and a source of strength,

Because it reminds us of your faithful love,
And inspires us with the hope of a future filled with blessings!

Lord, we thank you for guiding our fathers,
Who, inspired by the prophets
And by the saving work of your Son,
Founded a nation where all might live as one,
Acknowledging their dependence on you
As the source of their right to life.

We thank you for your blessings in the past,
And for all that, with your help, we must yet achieve.

We ask you to bless us as we thank you,
That our giving thanks may be accompanied by our firm resolve
To proclaim, celebrate, and serve
The gift of human life, born and unborn.

We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

26 open hours this week!

Thank you to all who took part in this year’s 40 Days for Life campaign!  You are all answers to prayers that have been prayed before this 40 Days for Life  campaign and all of the way through it.  Thank you for listening to God speaking in your hearts and for coming to the sidewalk to take part in this 40 Days for Life campaign.

For this 2017 fall 40 Days for Life campaign, there were around 375 locations and around 25 countries that took part.  Since the start of it, there have been 480 babies and their mothers saved from abortion (that we know of).  On October 31st, a call was received from one of our sidewalk counselors to let us know that a sidewalk counselor visiting from out of town was able to reach out to a young mother and father who were considering abortion.  She was able to send them over to the Women’s Care Center and they reported back that they chose LIFE for their baby!  Part of this scenario most likely happens so much more than we know.  Most often we do not get any feedback from the mothers who we send, through God’s grace, over to the Women’s Care Center.  We do know that more women who go to the Women’s Care Center choose life for their babies than not.  Right now, the Women’s Care Center is serving around 180 pregnant mothers.

I would like to give special recognition to people without whom this 40 Days for Life would have fallen flat:

Mary Markielewski, our Vigil Captain coordinator.  If an hour was not filled and we couldn’t find anyone to fill it, Mary did.  At last count, Mary was at around 75 hours on the sidewalk during this campaign.  God bless you Mary!

John Bohn, our sign in sheet coordinator and organization guru.  He made sure the sign in sheets were well organized and out for all to sign.  John also stepped up to fill  a lot of open hours and helps us to see humor in all situations.

All of our Vigil Day Captains who made endless calls to “rally the troops” for getting out to pray and witness and foroften getting out to the sidewalk to fill hours themselves: Olivia Bohn, Jan Hess, Ken Pientka, Bette Weisshaar, Katie Mueller and Kathleen Terry.

Bryan Kust, Vern Acker and Huan Hoang were real Godsends as they filled lots of our unfilled overnight hours!

Others high up in hours were: Joe Nicosia, Karen Wagner, Don Hudzinski, Judy Hoffman and Alan Mahinski.

We had 13 parishes that committed to weekly hours during this campaign and 6 K of C Councils that did the same.

Thank you all so much for the gift or your prayers and time.  We also want to thank all of the spouses and families fortheir sacrifices of having one or more family members giving so much time to 40 Days for Life.

Of course, we will never really know how much difference our prayers and presence have made until we get to Heaven.  We are assured on earth of the difference it makes when we hear the beautiful stories of the mothers and fathers who have chosen life for their babies like we heard about during this campaign. Vigil for Life is so grateful to God for all of you!

Although 40 Days for Life has ended, we still have our 365 for Life presence to keep on the sidewalk.  Please sign upfor an hour this week:

Monday, Nov. 6th – 2 needed at 9a; 2 needed at 11a; 1 needed at 12p; 1 needed at 1p and 2 needed at 2p.

Tuesday, Nov. 7th – 1 needed at 9a and 1 needed at 2p.

Wednesday, Nov. 8th – 2 needed at 1p; 1 needed at 4p and 2 needed at 5p.

Thursday, Nov. 9th – 1 needed at 10a; 1 needed at 12p and 1 needed at 1p.

Friday, Nov. 10th – 1 needed at 9a; 1 needed at 10a; 2 needed at 11a; 2 needed at 12p; 1 needed at 1p and 1 needed at 2p.

To sign up for hours go to: vigilforlife.org/calendar/monthview or e-mail info@vigilforlife.org or call Gwen at (608)393-8545.
