Open hours all week!

Dear Friends of Life,

The other week a young man called and wanted to get involved in witnessing outside of Planned Parenthood. He said, “I can’t let another day go by without doing something about abortion. The days keep on going by and I have not done anything about it yet. I can see me at my life’s end and having done nothing about it. I cannot let that happen. What do I need to do?” Since that call, this young man has come to the sidewalk weekly to witness for life. He said it’s been one of the “most positive experiences” he’s had in his life. Praise God!

Please bring your witness for life to the sidewalk this week.

Looking for an extra sacrifice to make for Lent? Time spent in prayer every week on the sidewalk (in the cold) planting good seeds might be your answer!

“We can think of Lent as a time to eradicate evil or cultivate virtue, a time to pull up weeds or to plant good seeds. Which is better is clear, for the Christian ideal is always positive rather than negative. A person is great not by the ferocity of his hatred of evil, but by the intensity of his love for God. Asceticism and mortification are not the ends of a Christian life; they are only the means. The end is charity. Penance merely makes an opening in our ego in which the Light of God can pour. As we deflate ourselves, God fills us. And it is GOD’s arrival that is the important event.” -Fulton J. Sheen

Prayer By: Rev. Rob Schenck

God, forgive us when we try to explain away the obligation we have to help others who need help.
Enable us to not devalue them because they are in the circumstance that they are in, but to see them for what they are,
those, who like us, were formed by your hand in their mother’s womb. Amen.

3 open hours on Wednesday – An Abortion Day!

Many moms turn around and choose life at an abortion facility (In fact, we received word from one of our prayer warriors this past Tuesday that he received confirmation that a young Mom he spoke with told him that she chose life for her baby. Praise God!) … but many more do not.

The reality is that your prayerful presence is the last sign of hope for the baby before the abortion …

… and your presence is also the first sign of mercy to the woman after the abortion.

Vigil for Life is a campaign of love and mercy. While the baby’s life is in urgent need of saving, it can’t be forgotten that abortion has lifelong, negative effects on mothers, fathers and extended families.

Please bring your love and mercy via your prayerful presence to the sidewalk this week.

Tuesday, 2/23 – 1 needed at 1p and 1 needed at 2p.

Wednesday, 2/24 – 2 needed at 12p and 1 needed at 1p.

Prayer
By: Kevin Burke, Exec. Director, Rachel’s Vineyard Ministries

Lord, during these forty days, we ask that with each day of this sacred vigil, everything in us that separates us from your perfect will would be pruned from our hearts and souls.

In this blessed freedom may we experience a powerful anointing of your Holy Spirit. Filled with confidence and trust may we proclaim with the mother of Jesus, “Let it be done to me, according to your Word.” Amen.

7 open hours on Wednesday, 2/17 – An Abortion Day

Dear Vigil for LIfe Friends,

The toll of abortion cannot be measured. We hear estimates of almost 50 million innocent victims, but that’s only one aspect of the harm that has unfolded in abortion’s wake. There are also the mothers and fathers of these millions, as well as the grandparents, brothers and sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins. Unborn lives destroyed. Lives of the living shattered.
It’s overwhelming and depressing, but even in the midst of such unfathomable darkness, the church teaches us to have hope. Yes, it was indeed Calvary that followed Christ’s 40 days in the desert, but without Calvary there would have been no Resurrection — His victory over death that opened the gates of heaven to those who believe in and follow Him.
The psalmist encourages us to go humbly before God as we seek His will: “A clean heart create for me, O God, and a steadfast spirit renew within me… Give me back the joy of your salvation and a willing spirit sustain in me… O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall proclaim your praise” (Psalm 51:12, 14, 17).
We are called to be God’s messengers; or as the Apostle Paul told the Corinthians: “We are ambassadors for Christ, as if God were appealing through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ: be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20).
That is the true message to all we encounter at the abortion centers and in our communities who have been deceived by the Culture of Death. We don’t bring condemnation; we bring God’s good news.

Witness for the Gospel of Life this week! We NEED YOU!

Dear Friends of Vigil for Life,

Thank you to all who have braved the snow and cold to witness for the Gospel of Life outside of Planned Parenthood in Madison. We are so grateful to God for your dedication and witness. We praise God that we have had reports of women being directed from Planned Parenthood to the Women’s Care Center every week. We have even heard from prayer warriors that some women have come back to tell them that they will be choosing LIFE for their baby. SO BEAUTIFUL!

Recently, Christian singer – Matthew West – played at a benefit concert for a Pregnancy Resource Center. After the concert, they told Matthew that they prayed that God would put a song in his heart to promote a Culture of Life. The song that came from this is UNTOLD. You can listen to it here: iamuntold.org While at the website, you can also see the rest of the project that sprung up from it. It’s all beautiful!

Please bring your love and prayers to the sidewalk this week!

Lenten Pro-life Prayer
From Priests for Life

Father of all mercy,
We thank you for this season of grace and light.
We know that sin has blinded us.
Draw us ever closer to you, in prayer and penance.

Since you, O God, are light itself,
Give all your people a clearer understanding
Of what is sin, and what is virtue.

Grant in particular that we may see, as never before,
The profound dignity of every human life,
Including the vulnerable unborn children.

Give us grace to defend
Our brothers and sisters in the womb
By our prayers, our words,
And our self-sacrificing actions.

We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Roe v. Wade Prayer Vigil on Tuesday, 1/26

ROE V. WADE PRAYER VIGIL led by Fr. Chris Gernetzke – Tuesday, 1/26 at 12 noon on the sidewalk outside of Planned Parenthood, 3706 Orin Road, Madison.

Posted in Vigil for Life emails | Leave a comment

14 open hours on Wednesday (An Abortion Day)

This past Friday, January 22, 2015 marked the 43rd anniversary of the tragic Roe v. Wade decision. Tonight was the Requiem Mass for the Unborn at St. Mary’s Pine Bluff. It was offered for all of the babies who have died from abortion in the Diocese of Madison this past year. During Mass, there was a candlelight processional with the number of candles signifying the average number of babies who die from abortion in Dane County (PP in Madison) each month. There were 16 candles. As we blew out the candles, it was as if we saw the lives of these babies being extinguished. Beyond sad, really.

We received some good news this past Tuesday from one of our prayer warriors. She said that 2 young women were sent over to the Women’s Care Center instead of going into PP. One of the young women confirmed that she had a change of heart and will be keeping her baby! Praise God!

Please bring your prayers and witness to the sidewalk this week:

Following are some prayers you can add to your Rosary and/or Divine Mercy Chaplet on the sidewalk:

Prayer for the Baptism of Aborted Babies (From Precious Blood of Jesus Daily Devotional)

Heavenly Father, Your love is eternal. In Your ocean of love, You saved the world through Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Now look at Your only Son on the Cross Who is constantly bleeding for love of His people, and forgive Your world. Purify and baptize aborted children with the Precious Blood and water from the Sacred Side of Your son, Jesus Christ, Who hung dead on the Cross for their salvation; in the Name of the Father , and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. May they, through the holy death of Jesus Christ, gain everlasting life, through His wounds be healed and through His Precise Blood be freed. There to rejoice with the saints in heaven. Amen.

Prayer Against the Sins of the Flesh (From Precious Blood of Jesus Daily Devotional)

Holy and merciful Father, Your only begotten Son is standing naked in the sight of all men, so that Your people will know and fear Your holy law. Accept my humble prayer for all Your people who are living under iniquity, fornication and adultery, that through all the shame and disgrace of Your only begotten Son, You will touch their lives for repentance and save them. May they, through the Precious Blood of Your Son Jesus Christ, which I plead to fall on their hearts, gain repentance and be saved. Through His shame make them bold for repentance. Amen.

Prayer to End Abortion By: Fr. Frank Pavone, Priests for Life

Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life,
And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters.
I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion,
Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death
by the Resurrection of Your Son.
I am ready to do my part in ending abortion.
Today I commit myself
Never to be silent,
Never to be passive,
Never to be forgetful of the unborn.
I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement,
And never to stop defending life
Until all my brothers and sisters are protected,
And our nation once again becomes
A nation with liberty and justice
Not just for some, but for all,
Through Christ our Lord. Amen!

RALLY FOR LIFE 1/12/16

We have three strong pro-life bills in our state legislature that need to pass before the session closes in March.
Assembly Bill 305/Senate Bill 260 bans the sale and use of the body parts of aborted babies in Wisconsin.
Assembly Bill 310/Senate Bill 237 redirects money from the Title X grant program away from Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin.
Assembly Bill 311/Senate Bill 238 prohibits family planning organizations, including Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, from overbilling the state for drugs it purchases and dispenses through a Medicaid program.
Now is the time to pass these bills and get them to Governor Walker!

We need you to help encourage the legislators to move on these bills right away. Come to Madison for the rally and then make some visits to legislators. Bring your friends and neighbors.

PROGRAM:

12 p.m. – 1 p.m. – Rally outside at King Street Entrance to State Capitol. Pro-life leaders and authors of AB 305/SB 260, AB 310/SB 237, and AB 311/SB 238, as available, will speak.

This rally is sponsored by: Pro-Life Wisconsin, Wisconsin Family Action, and Wisconsin Right to Life

Still 27 OPEN hours for this week!

“Our final destiny is heaven, not the grave! This means that the power of abortion – which takes more life than anything else – has also been broken. Our pro-life movement does not simply work for victory – we work from victory! Victory is our starting point. We joyfully proclaim to the world that Christ is Risen, and that for this reason, we must choose life. We then work to apply that victory to every sector of society. The labor is intense and the obstacles many. But we do not cower before the culture of death and wonder how we will ever overcome it. Rather, we stand before it with victorious confidence and declare: “Begone! You have no room here! No place here! No further authority to menace the human family. Your kingdom has been conquered and Christ reigns supreme!”
